Garage work

A Saturday afternoon working in the garage. It's a mess! It hasn't really been picked up since this winter. I managed to get a small shelving unit built and put up on the wall with some scrap pieces of wood I had ALL over the garage. Nicholas was my helper! We also got the treadmill unburied again, so maybe one of us will actually use it now. :) We also have a pile started for a Goodwill trip tomorrow.

Emma has the love of Jesus in her heart...sometimes she is just the sweetest child. She got Nicholas ready for bed tonight by herself and with nobody asking her. She helped him brush his teeth, put his PJ's on, and read a book to him. She's going to make a great babysitter one of these days.

Ticking down

My days on active military service are ticking down. I had my last dental checkup in the AF today (everything's good...yeah!). I've got most of my out-processing checklists now...just have to start doing some of the items. :)

The kids are all doing great. Katelyn and Nicholas got their new backpacks for school today...they are pretty excited. Emma's is in on back order...hope it gets here soon. Angie has her 1st teacher meeting on Tuesday. Summer is almost officially over!

Football

It's fantasy football draft day! The best of time of the year is almost here...NFL football season. Angie & I have our fantasy draft this afternoon. Neither one of us have done hardly any prep work for it.

One more week till Angie goes into school for the teachers meeting and to start getting her classroom ready. The kids start on the 8th.

I've got 11 work days left. This week was a busy one but I did manage to get my final out-processing appointment set up and my out-processing appointment with finance. I've also got my Permissive TDY (20 days) and Terminal leave (51 days) forms in for approval.

Whew, we're home again! We put 2,610 miles on the Explorer completing our Illinois trip. Lots of fun and great to see family, but wonderful to be home. Here are some highlights from our trip (in no particular order):

1) Nicholas with the constant "mommy, mommy, mommy" in the truck throughout the entire drive
2) Driving a Lotus REALLY fast (thanks Archie!)
3) A boat ride on the Mississippi
4) Malts from Country Style
5) Katelyn riding the horse (Rocky)
6) Emma riding on the 4-wheeler
7) Playing pool in the basement again after LOTS of years
8) Swimming in the pool
9) Hanging out with family till 2-3 in the morning
10) Seeing our 1yr old niece for the 1st time!
11) Tenderloins and Illinois meat cases!
12) Quincy races

Good times! Now back to the real world. Thanks everyone for a great summer vacation!

Hy-Vee

Virginia needs a Hy-Vee. Illinois grocery stores have awesome meat display cases...huge variety and great stuff. Makes our grocery stores look pathetic! We grilled some NY strip steaks and kabobs last night that were great.

Illinois Vacation

One week of vacation already gone...we'll be home again before we know it. The summer vacation for the girls will be over soon too. Everybody will be back to school (including Angie teaching 3rd grade at the kids school this year!) and I'll be winding down to my AF retirement. Only 16 actual work days (taking out leave I still have planned) left! T.

Camping Trip

Nick & I got a camping trip in last weekend.  We went to Chickahominy Riverfront park over by Williamsburg.  The weather was nice and co...
