Thought of the Day
"Do not think that love, in order to be genuine, has to be extraordinary. What we need is to love without getting tired." Mother Teresa

Things that I have learned
A few of my favorites from multiple "things I've learned lists"
I've learned -
that it's not what you have in your life but who you have in your life that counts
I've learned -
that you can get by on charm for about fifteen minutes. After that, you'd better know something
I've learned -
that you shouldn't compare yourself to the best others can do but to the best you can do
I've learned -
that no matter how thin you slice it, there are always two sides
I've learned -
that it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be
I've learned -
that it's a lot easier to react than it is to think
I've learned -
that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel
I've learned -
that either you control your attitude or it controls you
I've learned -
that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become
I've learned -
that two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different
I've learned -
that no matter the consequences, those who are honest with themselves get farther in life
How about you...what do you think of these? Do you have any of your own favorites?

Day Off
I took the day off today...and what a beautiful spring day it was! Nicholas & I went to breakfast together and then went to the bread store, Lowes, and Sams. Lots of fun shopping with him...he has lots of BIG ideas! We then came home just in time to put stuff away before the window man came to give us an estimate on new windows. After that Nicholas & I played a bit. Ang came home with the girls for about a half hour before she had to leave with Katie for gymnastics. Enjoyed some dinner with Chuck & Madeline and then Emma & I practiced soccer kicks in the front yard. Now it's time to load up Emma & Nicholas and go pick up Katelyn!

A Haze of Yellow
Pollen has been out in full force! Everything outside has a nice yellow dust covering it...cars, decks, patio furniture. I pulled the hose out yesterday and tried to rinse everything off resulting in a nice yellow run-off of water. We've had the windows open and are now trying to clean the same yellow dust off EVERYTHING in the house! Craziness.
My week in Ohio was busy...full days of work at the conference followed by a quick dinner and then a few hours on the laptop keeping up with my regular work stuff. Ang worked on the girls rooms a bit more and they are now sleeping in their new rooms. Everyone goes back to school tomorrow.
It's official...Katelyn needs glasses. She's squinting at everything! I guess we need to get her in someplace soon.

Friday morning
TGIF! Having my morning ritual of coffee and Internet time before I go off to work. The rest of the family is sleeping soundly in their beds because it's the 1st day of their spring break! Lucky ducks. Wonder if work would notice if I didn't show up today...
