Rosemary

The Kenney Krewe made a quick trip back to Keokuk this weekend for Rosemary's 80th birthday party.  All her kids, grand kids, great-grand kids, and friends were all there for the weekend.  Alot of people!  Luckily they had a nice big "party-shed" that was big enough to have some tables/chairs, place for food, and still a half with a basketball hoop and room for the kids to ride trikes, enclosed foot-powered cars, and generally run around!  The kids had a blast playing with all their cousins and we had a good time catching up with family we hadn't seen in a long time. Some late nights and long travel days led to a "skip" day off from school for the kids and a day off from work for me.  Poor Ang had to go to work.  :(

New Bike Rider

Cold Front

We had almost 80 degree weather last Fri and a pretty nice weekend, but the cold front has rolled in and it's dropping below freezing again tonight.  At least it's not up in the northern tier where I still see reports of snow from my friends on facebook.

Katelyn started riding her bike this week.  She had a small bike with training wheels along time ago, then got her scooter a couple years ago.  We tried the bike riding thing right before winter started with limited success.  The other night we pulled the bike out, I tried to help for a few minutes but decided it wasn't going to well, so gave her a few pointers and let her at it in the backyard.  She had it down in about 15 minutes!

Saturday Sunshine

Beautiful day here in Newport News today.  Busy as always.  We started with Katelyn who had her best friend from gymnastics (Jenny) spend the night.  Nicholas had gymnastics this morning, then he was invited to a birthday party, so we all went there; then Nicholas, Katelyn, Jenny, & I left from there to go to T-ball practice.  From there I stopped and got a yard of mulch dumped in the back of the truck and we came home.  I saw Ang & Emma for a split second as they went to get the explorer oil changed.  I trimmed the front 3 crape myrtles with the chain saw (cut alot off!) and then put out the mulch.  My fore arms are sore now!  Ang is out with some girl friends for dinner and the rest of just had some Sonic.  Whew, time to start some laundry now. I need more hours in the day..

Nicholas finally had his 1st T-ball practice yesterday.  The last two have been cancelled due to rain.  He was pretty excited and did pretty good considering.  He had a bit of trouble his 1st at bat attempt...hit the ball and then instead of running to 1st base he decided to go after the ball!  Here are a couple pictures from my phone, so not very good quality

Weekend!

I made it home yesterday morning on the red-eye after a extremely full 2 days of meetings/conferences/unit visits/briefings at Creech & Nellis AFB.  Angie & I went out last night with two other teachers from Living Word Academy and their husbands.  We went to the Melting Pot.  It was fun and we all had a great time, but it took almost 4 hours!

Busy day again today; Nicholas has gymnastics this morning, Katelyn has a group gymnastics practice at noon (in prep for a meet tomorrow), Nicholas has T-ball practice after lunch, and then we have lots of house stuff we should be doing too.

Emma had a project due last week for History.  She chose Greece.  This is what she made from some boxes and cardboard for her visual presentation in addition to her other info for the oral report.

Nicholas is reading some and is pretty proud about it.  He had some books in his Friday folder and he made sure he read them all to me yesterday after I picked him up from school!

Another Trip

Off I go to Vegas 1st thing in the morning.  I have a 5:30am flight out of Norfolk, so it will be an early morning.  Hope I get some zzzz's on the airplane.  Two days of work in Vegas then returning on the red-eye Thursday night so I can be home Fri by noon.

Angie is the best wife a guy could ask for.  She's pulling the slack of me being gone alot lately.  Since Nicholas' T-ball clinic was canx on Sun due to rain, his 1st practice is Thursday night.  Once again she's left to the task.

Weekend Busy Bees

The weekend is to relax right?  Hmm....here's our agenda so far

 - Fri night: KT gymnastics, Emma's at a sleep over
 - Sat: Nicholas gymnastics & KT private gymnastic lesson in the AM, shopping for cleats and glove for Nicholas T-ball, shopping for soccer socks for Emma, shopping for Tennis shoes for KT, bowling with our CG peeps tonight
 - Sun: church volunteer...me at 0630, Ang at 0820, me at 0945; church at 1110; brunch with friends after church; Nicholas T-ball clinic at 2pm

Somewhere in there laundry and other house chores need to get done.  Whew...the weekend is going to fly by
