Failure is an Event not a Person

How many times do we not do/try something because we're afraid of failure? Then after we do and fail do we say: "see I knew it"? Failure is one of Gods greatest teaching tools; let's use it to our advantage!

Disclaimer: for the parents out there...nothing has happened...just a thought thru my head today! Love you!

The godly may trip 7 times, but they will get up again (Proverbs 24:16)

My helpers

It was a good day in the yard today. Katelyn and Nicholas helped me trim the bushes, rake the left over leaves from fall, pick up pine cones and sticks, and clean off the patio/deck. Nicholas didn't stay the entire time though...he got in trouble and then went inside to Mommy! Katelyn stayed outside and helped me bag up all the leaves and stuff. I have a nice big dead spot in the back yard where we had a big pile of leaves all winter. Guess I need to get some grass seed going.

Nicholas is my boy...no doubt. I was listening to some music (Staind) today during lunch and Nicholas started bobbing his head, pointing his fingers, and moving his eyes all weird like! I think there's a hard rocker inside of him...what a clown.

Emma had a soccer scrimmage Thursday afternoon...she's not too bad for just starting. She has some endurance, now she needs to work on her aggressiveness. She had her drama class on Fri afternoon...she continues to really like that.

Thought of the Day

"The thought manifests as the word;
The word manifests as the deed;
The deed develops into habit;
And habit hardens into character;
So watch the thought and its way with care;
And let is spring from love
born out of concern for all beings."

Great Weekend

We had a great weekend, although very busy. Ang & I went to a surprise 40th birthday party Friday night. It was alot of fun with a St. Patrick's Day theme. Saturday morning I took Emma to her friends house in Williamsburg for a sleepover. I then met everybody else over at one of our friends for their son's 2nd birthday party. It was an awesome sunny day so we were able to enjoy the sunshine in their backyard. Ang & Katelyn left a bit early so Katelyn could go to a gymnastics lesson. Nicholas & I left a bit later so I could take him to a train show. A couple guys I work with are part of a scale modelers club not too far away from our house, and the club was having an open house. Nicholas enjoyed it and we have an invite to go back another weekend without the crowd and they'll let Nicholas get a little more "hands on". Later in the evening we had some friends over and we enjoyed a night of talk and games...although I really stink at Scrabble!

Walk With the Wise

So, our community group discussed spiritual progress this week and I've continued to think about it since.

"He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm"

Take a minute and read that again...it says "suffer harm"...not become a fool too. Everyone we interact with can have an affect on our lives. The people we interact with most, our friends, determine the direction and quality of our lives. Think about that for a minute. We're good at telling our kids to be mindful of their choice in friends but how much thought do we give to it? The "fools" around us can bring us down, put us in bad situations, influence our decisions, and make us look back at those decisions and say "why in the world did I do that?".

Do we allow ourselves to become friends with some individuals because of convenience? I think we all do...it's comfortable and desirable to be accepted. We just need to be aware of how our friends impact our values and lives.

I'm not sure where I was going with this post (oops), except to say I'm extremely grateful for the people in my life right now.

Kids

Ang & I are truly blessed to have 3 great kids

80's couple

Remember these two?

Iowa basketball

I want to change my career profession and become a college basketball coach. Iowa fired their coach (after a 20 loss season...so no arguement from me), but get this...he gets a 2.4 million dollar buy out. Can I be fired and get 2.4 million dollars? Please!

Traveling Man

I made it back from Vegas! It was quite the ordeal getting there and back though. I got delayed in Atlanta and missed the 1st connection. They put me on a later flight and then I sat on the airplane, on the tarmac, for 3 hours! It wasn't too bad though...they did upgrade me to 1st class! It was touch and go trying to get home as well...they overbooked the flight and I didn't get a seat until the last minute. However, once again things not as bad as they could have been since I managed to get a window seat (my favorite). I should be home for a few weeks before I have to travel again. Next stop - Ohio.

Emma started drama class on Fridays. Ang says she really enjoyed it last week. When Emma got home she was practicing lines with Nicholas and kept telling him what a good job he was doing! We have some great kids.

VA

I spent 6+ hours at the VA hospital yesterday for hopefully my final appointments. I might hear something in about 2 months on the status of my disability claim. Crazy, I thought I felt pretty good going into my appointments but by the time I was done I felt worse! I'm falling apart. I blame it on my parents!

Off to Vegas again tomorrow. It's a bummer...I can't stand going out there...it takes a full day to get back. I can't leave till Sat morning (due to work schedule of Fri), so I won't get back here till after 9pm. Yuck!

Another busy week

Spring is coming! We think; Angie & the kids had another day off from school on Wednesday due to snow. Crazy VA weather...the snow was gone the next afternoon!

I went to San Antonio Mon-Thur. Angie's not seeing much change to my travel schedule now that I'm a AF civilian compared to when I was active duty! I actually will be gone again this week, Wed-Sat; to Vegas.

Our vehicles are getting old! The drivers side window in the truck stopped working right. It won't go up! It still goes down though...so right now it's stuck about 1/2 way down. We hope there's no rain in the forecast until we can get it fixed.

Camping Trip

Nick & I got a camping trip in last weekend.  We went to Chickahominy Riverfront park over by Williamsburg.  The weather was nice and co...
