2 days gone

We've already completed 2 days of Disney. We went to Epcot on day 1 and were at Hollywood Studios today. Magic Kingdom is on tap for tomorrow.

We've had a great time and between the parks and the hotel pool, the kids have really seemed to enjoy themselves. More to follow... T.

Frantic

It's almost here...vacation! We're in a mad rush to get everything together to get it started.

Level 4

Katelyn had her gymnastics evaluation this week and is being progressed to level 4! Yeah for her!! Of course this means more hours at the gym for her (and Angie). I think its going to be 3 hrs a night, 2 nights a week. T

Mother's Thoughts

Ya wanna know my husband's reply to the boy? Wait for it . . . . . wait for it . . . . "Son, you can't be so obvious". Which leads to me to these conclusions:

1) No more daddy/son outings without supervision. EVER!
2) I'm enrolling in covert observation classes specializing in analyzing the directional gaze of my dear husband.
3) I'm officially practicing my back of the head jack slap. I believe I will win a gold medal in this event by the time I'm finished perfecting my form and follow thru.
4) If my husband shows up anywhere with a neck brace you know I have completed #2 and #3 and he got busted.
5) It's a good thing I find both my husband and my son extremely cute and I happen to love them both. Cuz I hate to admit it but it was hilarious.

Wandering Eyes

So we're at a restaurant tonight and a couple little girls walk by. Nicholas turns his head/shoulders around in the booth and watches them walk away! Then he turns back to Ang and tells her he was "watching the girls"!! T.

Magazine

Emma had a friend, Peyton, over on Friday and together they created a magazine. You saw an article from it earlier this week by Katelyn about her gymnastics. I thought I'd throw a couple more of the articles up here for you all to see the wonderful job they did.

Gossip (by Peyton)
Today's gossip is about Emma Kenney winning the Super Star Talent Show! The judes were Miss. Peyton Fewell and Mr. Nicholas Kenney. Emma was facing Katelyn Kenney. Emma won just by a little. Emma sang and Katelyn danced. Peyton thought Katelyn should of won, but since Nikholas was the head judge he got to pick the winner, and as you all know he picked Emma. Also, there's the really cool T.L.F. (Temporary Liveing Facilty) down in Langley that I herd about. But that's next week's gossip !!!!

They also had an article on summer fashion tips and they used their middle names as their "pen" names. I believe the title of the magazine was Girl Times. Good job ladies and all of it (ideas, spelling, content, everything) was done ALL ON THEIR OWN. I think for a couple of 9 yr olds (and input from a 7 yr old) they did spectacular. Oh and they really did have the talent show too! Later, Ang.

Gymnastics: from Katelyn

"I like gymnastics cuse it's really fun and it's exercise too. I go to River View Gymnastics Center. I had some shows this week, I had them Monday and Tuesday at 5:00 PM, they were fun but it took awhile until it was my turn. I been learning about back hand spring, I got it one time but I still need to be spotted. Stay tooned for next weeks gymnastics scoop! :)"

Parents commentary: it was actually Monday, Wednesday, and one this morning.

Mud Pies

Ang let the kids play out in the backyard with some mud pies. We had some extra topsoil from the gardens I built, so they had ready made dirt to use. Sounds like they had a good time.

I went thru some of my retirement paperwork today and realized just how much I have to do yet. I did manage to do a couple of the online things today. Tomorrow I need to get my medical records over to an office to do a medical review so I can get my VA stuff going. T.

New floor

The end of last week went well. The girls played outside with the neighbor girl a lot, we went to lunch at a new place just down the road from us (had motorcycles, corvettes, and a NASCAR hanging from the ceiling), and started laying the rest of our wood laminate flooring.

We managed to get the front entryway, the hallway, and the eat-in-kitchen area done. I need to finish the transition pieces and then put one door frame, the doorway trim, and the baseboards back on. The kitchen will be next.

My new job was posted last week and my bosses were in a panic to make sure I got my resume in...this was way faster than we all expected. So of course I've been a nervous wreck most of the weekend, but I did get a resume posted last night with the job application. Now it's another waiting game till the next step. I'll be happy when it's all settled! T.

Friday

My week of vacation is almost over; back to work on Monday. We ripped up the old vinyl floor in the entry way, hallway, and eat in kitchen area Wednesday night/Thursday morning. I got all the base boards and trim off yesterday. With Angie's help we managed to get about half of the eat-in-kitchen area done, including a couple strips down the hallway. Not sure if I'll get it finished today or not. I need to work on my resume today and apply for my job. The job search seems very promising right now. T.

Summer Vacation continues...

We took the kids to Busch Gardens (Williamsburg) today. We went to Ft. Eustis this morning, and after a few attempts at finding the building we managed to find tickets & tours and got our tickets. It was hot and sunny when we got there so we lathered everyone up in suntan lotion.

We had a good time on some rides, visiting Sesame St. Place, and watching a Sesame St. 4D show. We were all on a ride when they shut it down (and most of the rest in the park) due to inclement weather coming into the area. We thought they were crazy, but in about 15 minutes or so a massive thunderstorm with lightning rolled over the park. We did some building to building running (making a stop at the Clydesdale stalls) before we finally gave it up and just walked back to the tram. By the time we made it to the truck we were all drenched! All in all it was a good time though. T.

Summer Vacation

Monday was the 1st official day of summer vacation for the girls. We took them to Williamsburg to Go Karts plus. They had several types/sizes of go-carts, bumper cars, bumper boats, small roller coaster, small kids rides, arcade, and putt-putt golf (although we didn't golf). The kids all enjoyed it; Nicholas was a bit frustrated at times since he wasn't tall enough to ride some of them. We did the bumper boats last and were all soaked when we finished. We were quite the crew when we went for lunch at Ruby Tuesdays! T.

WEC Grand Opening

So our church (Waters Edge Church) just moved into a new building and celebrated with a party last night. They had some food, inflatable jump arounds/obstacle course for the kids, firetrucks, and some games with free prizes. At the end of the night they shot off some fireworks and had a helicopter drop confetti on our parking lot (where we were all sitting). All in all it was a good time. Today is the Grand Opening/1st Sunday in the building that's been advertised to the public (we had service in the building last week, but no advertising/signs). T.

Last Day of School

So today was the last day of school for the girls. They had their awards ceremony (Ang was able to go, I was stuck at work). Both girls received a 4.0 academic award! They must take after their dear ole Dad. :) Both girls do excellent and received very high scores on their aptitude tests.

Katelyn was supposed to have a Flipateers event tonight at a local college stadium for Relay for Life, but we've got thunderstorms rolling thru so it was cancelled.

I'm taking next week off so hopefully we can do some things with the kids around the local area. Most of the other schools in the area don't get out till next Friday. T.

Hump Day

The week is almost over...yeah! This is the last week of school for the girls and it shows. I don't think there is a lick of actual school work being done. Emma got to go to Pizza Hut one day for lunch buffet, they had water play outside one day, they're going on a field trip to a park in Williamsburg tomorrow, and Fri is the awards ceremony.

Katelyn completed her back flip in gymnastics on Monday! She was pretty proud. I'm impressed, I'd probably break my neck trying.

Angie & I had our community group last night and our baby sitter forgot she was supposed to be here! Angie called her and she came, but Ang had to come about a half hour late.

Gulp

I had a "holy cow" moment today. I did some calendar checking and after removing all the vacation we have planned over the summer, I only have 9 work weeks left! That's 45 days! Mid-September will be here before I know it. Wow...I really need to get moving on my retirement plans. T
