Another week down in the Kenney Krewe household. A typical week for us without too much excitement.
- Katelyn had gymnastics 3 nights this week, Angie wrapped up her foot where the raw spot from ice skating last weekend is
- Emma had volleyball practice two nights (plus this morning); still practicing for the setter position
- Emma & LWA won their 2nd basketball game of the season this past week! They are now 2-1
- Nicholas supposedly has a new girlfriend in K5...making googly eyes I hear
- Thank goodness for DVR...the only way Ang & I get to watch new TV shows together
- Katelyn is having a sleep over tonight with her friend Alex
- Emma laughed & laughed in my truck on the way home from her community group....it was hilarious and great to hear her be unguarded with "Dad"!
- worked on taxes this week...oh what fun
- Ang & I went out to dinner at Outback last night with two other teachers from her school and their husbands; ended the night visiting here at our house; good times
- Found an Intelligence position with the FBI in Springfield, Illinois I'm thinking about applying for. Not sure how competitive I'd be, but you never know

Sunday
All of our kids are back in our house. Emma had a great time at her friends birthday party last night...I guess she was up till about 1am. Katelyn and her friend Rachel had a good time here last night. Ice skating was fun and no broken bones! KT did get a ripped blister though...

Looks even worse today.
She likes her new IPOD docking alarm clock/speaker system and her new zebra stripe jacket

Katelyn's 10!
Our children keep having birthdays...don't they know to stay young, cute, and innocent? LOL
We had bacon stuffed pancakes this morning...they were kind of a flop. Bummer. They were too pancake battery or something. It was much better just with a plain pancake wrapped around a piece of bacon!
Emma has a volleyball clinic this morning then has a birthday party tonight to go to (a new friend from the volleyball league). While Ang is with Emma today at practice and then to get a bday present, I'll be taking Katelyn, her friend, and Nicholas ice skating for a couple hours. Ang told me to wrap Nicholas in bubble wrap! Katelyn is having a friend over tonight for a sleep over and wants pizza for supper.
Remember this 6yr old?
or this 4yr old?

Family Visit
We enjoyed having Mom & Grandma Jean here last weekend. It was Grandma's 80th birthday! We had a good time celebrating her day, playing some cards, and just visiting. They had some bad luck on the day they left Moline...the 1st plane they were on in the morning had some mechanical problems so they weren't able to leave until that evening and didn't get in to Newport News until 11:30pm! We made the best of the next couple days though.

Of course we had to have some cake too!

Ancora Imparo
This phrase, Ancora Imparo, is often attributed to Michelangelo and means "still I am learning". Sometimes events in our lives shake us up and bring this reality to the front of our lives. Last week was a bit rough for me at work. Events transpired that didn't go the way I think/feel they should have. I felt wronged, slighted, and overall was extremely angry. It's been on my mind a lot since then and in trying to take something positive out of it I ran across this phrase.
Still I am learning...amazing what these 4 words can mean if you take a minute. Although the events of last week will continue to bother me, I'll try to learn from this event and apply new direction in my life. Maybe as long as I understand I'm not perfect but I do have the power to continually grow I will successfully balance my self-expectations with reality.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11)

Here and There
I've been slacking on the blog updates lately, sorry. Busy days and busy nights I guess. Katelyn had her 1st gymnastics meet of the year this past weekend in Richmond. This was her first one at her new level 5. She ribboned (7 or better) in each event she entered, but she "scratched" the uneven bars because she wasn't getting one of the tricks in practice. I guess it's better to not compete in the event then to do it and do poorly. The judges will sometimes remember that in future meets.
Emma received her volleyball uniform last week. She's #14. She was originally going to be a hitter, but now the coaches have her lined up to be a setter. Time will tell I guess. She's loving it.
Emma is also playing basketball right now in school. Last year their team didn't win a single game, but this year they won 2 games in a practice "round robin" event. Hopefully the team will take some confidence from that and get some wins this year. Their first game is Thursday.
I was supposed to be TDY this week down to Florida, but cancelled it because I decided I could do what I needed to do via email, telephone or VTC. I have a trip scheduled for Arizona next week, but am thinking I may be able to not go on that one as well.

Happy, Happy Birthday!
Nicholas is 6! He had an "awesome" day yesterday he says. That's good considering we didn't do anything too extravagent. He had school as normal and then when we all got home he got to open his presents. He a slow present opener...no ripping into paper for him! His ice cream cake is still in the freezer!

Happy New Year!
2012...wow! We've had a great New Year's weekend so far. Thursday night we had fun playing with Band Hero on the Wii with the kids. Alot of fun pretending to be a rock star!

Friday night we went to some new friends house for a get together with other friends from our new community group. Had a great time! Last night we had our New Year's Eve party. We had 5 other couples and their kids over for food, beverages, and fun playing Dance Party on the XBOX. We turned the garage into a kid friendly zone with games, playdo, a TV/DVD and snacks. Katelyn & Nicholas were up till 1AM! I think Ang & I made it to be around 2.
We got up this morning and watched church via a special New Years day online service. Was nice to watch in PJs at home! Now we're relaxing with some football. We may get up the gusto to start taking down Christmas decorations later.
The Kenney Krewe wishes everyone a blessed New Year!
You have crowned the new year with Your bounty...(Psalm 65:11)
