April Confusion

I thought April showers brought May flowers?  We've had some rain, but we've had temps in the 80s too.  It's been mid to high 80s the past couple of days and our A/C is on the fritz.  I thought it was going to be able to limp along until we made a decision on what we were going to do (replace or try to continue to limp it along), but   the past couple days in the house have been pretty warm!  Have a repair guy coming out this morning to recharge it and talk some more on the replacement options.  I need to win the lottery, but I guess it would help if I played!

Happy Easter

He is risen!  What a wonderful day to tell those that hold a special place in heart how much we love them and care for them.

Happy Easter!

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!  In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead (1 Peter 1: 3)

Spy Wednesday

Easter is a few days away and as we prepare to remember the biggest act of forgiveness possible (Jesus died for our sins) I was thinking about today.  The Wednesday before Easter has been called Spy Wednesday; the day Judas agreed to show the high priests where they could easily capture Jesus.

Then one of the Twelve—the one called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver. From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over. (Matthew 26: 14-16)

Have you ever done something that consciously you knew was wrong, but you went ahead and did it anyway? Peer pressure, the easier way, the quicker way, the funner way, etc.  Today I pray for all of us to make wise decisions, to think about the outcome and consequences our decisions have on our lives and the lives of those we love around us.

Colorado Rockies #2

Hop

We took the kids to see Hop last night.  Now for those of you who may not be familiar with this movie...think of an Easter bunny movie on a Christmas movie plot.  The kids liked it, especially Nicholas.  It was a good ending to a busy weekend.

Almost Friday

The weekend is almost here!  Can you dig it?  We've been busy since last weekend and this weekend seems to be shaking up for a jammed packed one too.  We've had gymnastics, T-ball game, birthday party, soccer game, community group, Easter service volunteer training, new cable/internet/phone installed, fireplace cleaned/inspected (more on that in a separate post), bug guy/inspection (no termites!), A/C inspection, and oh yeah...work!  This weekend we have gymnastics, T-ball game (where Ang/I have concession stand duty), gymnastics meet, church and church volunteer.  I think we should move to a mandatory 3-day weekend!  Who's with me?

Thought of the Day

“Remind yourself: You can only deal with the present moment. Everything else is a memory, a hope or a fear.”

Furloughed?

This about says it all...is this the way we do politics now?

In Trouble

While walking down the stairs I hear a thump (sounds like a kid jumping on the floor) in the living room.  I walk in to the living room and Nicholas is standing by the computer desk:

Me - what are you doing?
Him - nothing (eyes averted)
Me - really, what were you doing?
Him - nothing
Me - Why are you in here?
Him - nothing (eyes averted)
Me - Are you lying?
Him - uhmm..no (fidgety)
Me - Nicholas Alan - what were you doing!
Him - getting a piece of tape (sniffing)
Me - go sit on the stairs for lying
Him - "slinks" over to stairs and holds head in hands
Me - walk away for a couple minutes, then come back and ask; what was tape for?
Him - to hang something up in my room (tears flowing)
Me - ok, you can get a piece of tape; do you know why you're in trouble?
Him - crying...words in french or some language I don't understand are spoken
Me - because you lied; getting tape is okay as long as you ask, but if I ask you a question you have to tell daddy the truth.  Do you understand?
Him - yesssshhh  (pouting/tears)
Me - ok, love you; you can get up

Geez, being a Dad is hard sometimes!

A Saturday Remembered

A good day in the Kenney household yesterday; nothing extraordinary or unusual but a day that blessed me.

- Slept in!  Everyone was able to sleep in a couple extra hours after a busy week and traveling last weekend

- No sibling fighting - the kids were great

- Time with Angie - after a busy week of passing one another going to and fro and me getting home late from work, we got some time together

- Watching Katelyn at her meet - she did good; kept her scores up and still having fun!

- Hearing Katelyn be a silly 9 yr old!  We took her to Ruby Tuesday's after the meet (she loves the salad bar) and she laughed and giggled almost the whole time!

- Watching/hearing Emma be the loving/giving person she usually is.  She helped Nicholas with a few things in the morning and turned the TV to a cartoon he wanted vs. what she was watching.

- Nicholas growing up; I heard him talking about so and so being his "BFF"!  Also, he had a play phone clipped on his pants and he was telling me how he could call, text, facebook, take pictures, and send his email.

Thank you God for the family you've blessed me with.

Weekend!

Yeah, the weekend is here!  A little sleeping in on Sat morning is awesome!  We had lots of rain this week, so once again poor Nicholas wasn't able to have a T-ball game.  The kids (and Ang) are on spring break now, so he doesn't have any game scheduled until the 11th.  We'll have to get some practice in at home.

Ang had a couple days this week where she felt pretty icky and crashed in bed soon after getting home from work/gymnastics practice with Katelyn.

Katelyn has gymnastic meet tonight, but other than that - off to enjoy the day!

Camping Trip

Nick & I got a camping trip in last weekend.  We went to Chickahominy Riverfront park over by Williamsburg.  The weather was nice and co...
