All About Me

You know how it goes right?  Does this sound familiar?
“Don’t believe your friends
when they ask you to be honest with them.
All they really want is to be maintained
in the good opinion they have of themselves.”
~ Albert Camus(1913-1960)
Most of us have that selfish attitude at some points in our lives.  However, do you live your entire life that way? Go outside on a clear night and look at the stars.  Isn't it amazing?
By the word of the LORD the heavens were made,
their starry host by the breath of his mouth. (Psalm 33:6)
Our pastor put it very well.  We are significant insignificance.  We are all very important in our own way for the things we do in our job, in our families, in our relationships with others, and in ways we probably never even realize.  However, in the big scheme of things we are but a speck.  God knows our names though.
He determines the number of the stars
and calls them each by name. (Psalm 147:4)
So as we live our lives each day, take a minute before you respond to that "annoying" person.  Is it really about you?   Take a minute before you get frustrated with your spouse...is it really about you?  Take a minute before you get upset with so and so because they backed out...is it really about you?
He must become greater; I must become less. (John 3:30)

  1. At Tuesday night's group we were studying about Old Testament anger and if our anger today is okay with God or not. The conclusion was that most of our anger today has more to do with our feelings of hurt, dissappointment, sadness, etc than a real injustice. Adding the perspective of significant insignificance yet knowing that He loves us regardless of how we act or really are speaks for the thought "Is it really about us?" (Or even should it be?)

Gramps sure loves the Kenney Krewe!!!!!
